WAARA-STYLE NODE PRESS:

I am starting to offer a small number of tools for the discerning rod maker.  These bamboo rod making tools will be available as they are posted here.  I am starting off with my rendition of the Waara-style Node Press.  These are the same presses that my students use in my rod building classes.  The design is subject to change from run to run, as I don’t want to get bored!  Rest assured, these widgets reflect my idea of a nice tool, and rather than a just-get-it-done attitude, these tools are nice to look at as well as functional.

ALUMINUM JAWS FOR AIR VISE:

These jaws are machined here at the shop.  They are made with 6061 T5 Aluminum 1/2″ thick.  This helps heat-sink your strips making for faster cycle time through the operation of straightening and pressing nodes.  The jaws are longer, enabling the rod maker to flatten the areas adjacent to the nodes as well as the nodes themselves.  The jaws are drilled and tapped to use the same screws that came with your vise.  The holes are NOT drilled through, so the ENTIRE inner surfaces of the jaws are “safe” for your strip.  The longer length allows those rodmakers “soaking” their strips to fine tune the air pressure, and leave no dents in the enamel.
