Bamboo Fly Rod Making: Soldering welts on nickel silver micro ferrules
This video on bamboo fly rod making shows the welts being soldered onto the female tubing. Choosing the right size welt, and machining pleasing features on it makes a bamboo fly rod more pleasing to the eye.

Again, these welts are over-sized, so that there is sufficient material to machine down to final dimensions.
